Job Description:

SUMMARY

Provide psychological evaluations and psychotherapy to patients. Perform individual, family, and group therapy to patients experiencing social, emotional and vocational difficulties. Work within the guidelines of all statutes, rules and other legal requirements governing Psychologists in the State of Oregon.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and evaluate patient data and test findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder.
  • Direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments to treat mental, emotional or behavioral disorders
  • Provides individual, group and family counseling services
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, advanced practice providers, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
  • Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports in a timely manner.
  • Act as patient advocate in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Evaluate patients’ physical or mental condition based on review of client information.
  • Meet with families, probation officers, police, school representatives and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  • Refer patients or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting patients.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and patients’ progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
  • Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in patients’ status.
  • Learn about new developments in the field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
  • Discuss with individual patients their plans for life after leaving therapy.
  • Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.
  • Provides screening and assessment of patients’ mental health needs. Coordinates care with Primary Care Provider (PCP).
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation as required for billing, assessment, treatment and other activities.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Serve on committees to promote mental health services and delivery systems for our community.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Moderate physical activity.
  • Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
  • Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
  • CPR Certified
  • Pre-employment background investigation will be required.
  • Able to obtain Oregon state licensure within 90 days of employment.

Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have medical licensure in the State of Oregon and must be board eligible or certified in Psychology.
  • Experience in Telemedicine
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise, advice, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
