Job Description:

SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Therapist is responsible for providing direct clinical services to individuals, families, and groups experiencing a range of behavioral health challenges. This role includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Therapists work as part of an interdisciplinary team to care for the patient population, collaborating with other behavioral health and non-behavioral health providers. Telemedicine approaches may also be used to provide clinical care.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides culturally competent, trauma-informed psychotherapy services including assessment of patient’s social, behavioral, emotional, and family situation and patient’s goals in seeking outpatient behavioral health services.
  • Conducts comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develops individualized treatment plans for a caseload of patients.
  • Maintains timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborates with primary care, psychiatric, and case management staff to support integrated and coordinated care.
  • Provides clinical and diagnostic feedback to management and contributes to treatment planning discussions.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and utilization review processes as assigned.
  • Participates in clinical case consultations, supervision, and team meetings.
  • Delivers crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed, including safety planning and coordination of higher levels of care.
  • Assists patients in accessing community resources and support systems.
  • Adheres to professional ethical standards and all relevant legal, regulatory, and organizational policies.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities, training, and professional development.
  • Assists in training new staff, supervising students or interns, and supporting visiting clinical personnel.
  • Contributes to a respectful, inclusive, and supportive care environment for patients and staff.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered behavioral care.
  • Maintains knowledge of local, state, and federal resources available to patients.
  • Interacts with Tribal members and the general public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Provides excellent customer service to patients and vendors of Three Rivers Health Center.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

 

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY & RESTRICTIONS:

  • Supervises a small team or group of individuals, with some authority in decision-making and task delegation.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT:

  • Varied activities include standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient’s manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • May be required to work in locations other than Three Rivers Health Center, such as schools or at an outreach work location.
  • May be required to attend meetings, conferences and Tribal events.
  • Must be willing and able to work long hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing and able to travel both locally and within the CTCLUSI service delivery area.

Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to be insured to drive Tribal Government vehicles.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Unrestricted Oregon License and hold credentials as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) in good standing.
  • Experience providing therapy in a community, outpatient, or integrated care setting.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc).
  • Knowledge of legal guidelines related to alcohol, drug, and mental health counseling.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations.
  • CPR certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, in writing or by other acceptable means.
  • This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal history background check, which will include fingerprinting.
